Building History

Charles Hall, named after Charles County, a County located in the southern central region of Maryland, is a four-story, coed, building that accommodates approximately 108 residents. All living quarters consist of suites, apartments, and townhouses, which contain a living room, three to four bedrooms and one to three baths. Suites are the same as apartments, but do not have kitchens. Most academic buildings and libraries are less than a 10-minute walk away and the South Campus Dining Hall is only five minutes away.

Charles County, once one of the largest seaports on the East Coast of the United States, and supplier for tobacco, is a County rich in historical sites and traditional landscapes that reflect its rich diverse cultural and traditional past.

Housekeeping Service Hours:

Weekdays: Services run from Monday to Friday, starting at 7:30 a.m. and ending by mid-afternoon. We minimize disruption to residents' routines.
Weekends: Reduced service with restrooms and lounges cleaned once on Saturdays. No regular services on Sundays, which is a day off for our staff.
Emergency Services: Our team remains on call at all times. Available 24/7 through our Service Center at 301-314-9675.

Trash Removal

Residents are required to take their trash to the dumpsters outside their buildings. Housekeeping handles trash and recycling removal from lobbies, lounges, laundry rooms, and common bathrooms twice a day, ensuring clean and welcoming common areas.

HVAC System

Air Conditioned Building with Seasonal Transitioning

Charles Hall follows a seasonal heating and cooling schedule, with transitions generally happening in April and October. During each season, either warm or cool water circulates through the pipes to control the room temperature. Every unit is equipped with an air handler to regulate and circulate air, with filters changed three times a year. Each unit has a wall-mounted thermostat that allows you to adjust the mode, fan speed, and temperature settings.
