Session 1 Block (6 sessions) – 10:20 to 11:35 a.m.

The Purple Line: Advancing from Construction to Testing & Operations

Presenter(s): Courtney Brown & Casey Ferraro, Division of Administration

We’ll talk about the history & benefits of the Purple Line, Metro stations, art installations, construction impacts and long-term impacts to campus.

Workday Refresher

Presenter(s): Lisa Amick, Residential Facilities 

Join us for an interactive workshop on how to log into Workday to submit absence requests, comp time and review your leave balances. Bring your work device to log into Workday from Safari or Chrome on your phone, iPad or laptop.

Getting Things Done

It’s important to get things done at work and home!  Whether achieving your goals, managing your time or juggling your responsibilities at work, you have to have a plan.  Learn how to stick to the plan, anticipate interruptions and be effective at achieving results!

Developing Your Team for Supervisors*

Presenter(s): Karina Escobar, Office of Civil Rights & Sexual Misconduct 

Follow up to OCRSM National Origin Training for Supervisors. 

This training session will focus on how to effectively develop your team through a culturally competent lens. Participants will be able to explore effective communication strategies to foster respect, understanding, and growth within diverse roles and teams as leaders.

Nourishing your Future Self through Meal Planning

Hear about all of the “stuff” behind the walls and underground and how it impacts renovation plans and our budget for projects.

Navigating Change & Handling Conflict in Healthy Ways

As we experience change, situations and conversations often become more stressful.  Learn ways to engage in healthy conflict and handle difficult interactions.

HVAC Walk thru in Iribe Center

Presenter(s): Alex Schaub, Facilities Management 

Meet in lobby for 30 minute tour

Join us for a MEC room tour of the Brendan Iribe Center, one of our highest LEED certified buildings on campus.  Alex will explain heating/cooling plant operations and automation, water pumping and how it is moved in the building, air side equipment operation, offices air flow and chilled beam operation.  This session is offered twice - during session block II and session block III.

Have you been interested in the Interplay learning platform but not sure where to start?  Stop by for an interactive demo and presentation of all things Interplay, including Virtual Reality goggles, games and more!  This session is geared towards Facilities Maintenance & Building Services’ supervisors, managers and front line staff, but all are welcome!  This session is offered twice - during session block II and session block III.

Navigating Retirement from the State Pension System

Presenter(s): Stacy Sims & Gigi Ndiaye, UHR Benefits 

Join our colleagues from UHR Benefits and learn about eligibility requirements for retirement, necessary forms, unused sick leave, annual leave pay out, retiree insurance coverage and retiree cost of living adjustment. This session is offered twice - during session block II and session block III.


Session 3 Block (7 sessions) – 2:05 – 3:20 p.m.

Coaching & Giving Feedback for Supervisors*

Presenter(s): Shayna Hodges & Julia Crooks, Transportation Services 

During this session, participants will learn practical coaching strategies to motivate, support, and guide staff while strengthening communication and trust in their day-to-day roles. They will learn what coaching is and how it differs from other approaches, then apply these concepts in real scenarios. Supervisors will practice key skills such as active listening, powerful questioning, acknowledgment, and supportive feedback. By the end, they will feel more confident using curiosity-driven, human-centered coaching techniques to effectively influence and support staff.

The Importance of Rest & Joy

All staff 

  • All staff may park in Lot 11 on Paint Branch Drive next to the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex. 
  • Service Building staff may park in their assigned Lot J parking on Diamondback Drive and make the short walk to the Brendan Iribe Center.

  • If you have a temporary Hotel permit you may park in any of the two lots behind The Hotel on Diamondback Drive and Testudo Way.
